AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead inside the first seven minutes. Ellyes Skhiri turned the ball into his own net in the third minute, and Brian Brobbey added a second four minutes later, finishing from a Virgil van Dijk assist to make it 0-2 before the game had settled.
Tunisia responded after the interval when H. Mastouri converted a Hannibal Mejbri assist in the 54th minute to reduce the deficit to 1-2. Any hope of a comeback faded quickly, though, as Jan van Hecke restored the two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute, finishing off a Tijjani Reijnders assist to make it 1-3, a scoreline that held until the final whistle.
Netherlands controlled possession throughout, holding the ball for 71 percent of the match and outshooting their opponents 20 to 10, with 7 shots on target compared to Tunisia's 4. The visitors' expected goals figure of 1.85 against Tunisia's 0.62 underlined their territorial and attacking dominance across the ninety minutes.
Jan van Hecke capped a commanding Netherlands display by scoring the third goal and earning the highest rating on the pitch at 9.2. Van Dijk also stood out, setting up Brobbey's early strike to help put the match beyond Tunisia's reach.
Netherlands' 71 percent possession share reflected their near-total control of proceedings against Tunisia.
