Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Toronto FC 25%, the draw 25%, Nashville SC 50%. It finished Toronto FC 2–1 Nashville SC.
Nashville SC's rating gap outweighs Toronto FC's home ground — Nashville SC are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Nashville SC's 50%. The draw at 25% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Nashville SC at 50%?
Nashville SC sit 291 points higher on our strength rating — 1448 to 1739. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge on the road won 52.0% of 6,074 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 19–26–55.
Why only 50%?
Major League Soccer home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (25.7% vs 30.2%). Major League Soccer homes won 49.4% of 5,145 games vs 44.9% across all 100,021 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly.
Why the draw at 25%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 25.5%. These teams' recent games average 3.0 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 25,029.
What did we measure but not count?
Nashville SC average 8 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 291 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Last 6 between them: Toronto FC 0 wins, 2 draws, Nashville SC 4 wins. Most recently Nashville SC 1–0 Toronto FC, 1 year ago. Fixture history hasn't carried forward once class is level: past leaders won just 28.1% of 5623 such games — no measurable edge, 0 points.
