Overview
QPR in brief
Queens Park Rangers, usually shortened to QPR, date their foundation to 1882, when Christchurch Rangers were formed; a merger with St Jude's produced the current name in 1886, taken from the Queen's Park area that most of the players came from. Based in Shepherd's Bush in west London, QPR have played at Loftus Road since 1917, apart from two spells at White City Stadium. The club are known as the Rs and the Hoops.
QPR's most famous honour is the 1967 League Cup, won as a Third Division side with a 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion in the competition's first Wembley final, the same season they won the Third Division. The club were Southern League champions in 1908 and 1912, won the Third Division South in 1948 and the second tier in 1983 and 2011. They were First Division runners-up in 1975-76, a point behind Liverpool, and reached the 1982 FA Cup final.

QPR's main rivals are their west London neighbours, with Chelsea the most notable and Brentford and Fulham also derby opponents. George Goddard, who played for the club from 1926 to 1934, is the record goalscorer, and Tony Ingham holds the appearance record with 548 games between 1950 and 1963. Stan Bowles, Rodney Marsh and Gerry Francis are among the players most associated with the club's best sides, and a stand at Loftus Road carries Bowles's name.
