Overview

Sassuolo in brief

Founded in 1920, Sassuolo represent the Emilian town at the heart of Italy's ceramics industry. The club are known as the Neroverdi for their black and green stripes. Since 2013 their home matches have been staged at the Mapei Stadium - Citta del Tricolore in nearby Reggio Emilia, linking a small-town football identity to a ground capable of hosting the club's rise through the professional divisions.

Sassuolo climbed from Serie C1 to Serie A within five years, winning the third-tier title in 2008 and Serie B in 2013. Massimiliano Allegri guided the first of those promotions, while Eusebio Di Francesco's possession-oriented, attacking side established the club in the top flight and reached European competition. A second Serie B title followed in 2025, adding another settled milestone to a modern history shaped by sustained infrastructure and player development.
