Overview

SV Elversberg in brief

SV Elversberg were founded in 1907 as FC Germania Elversberg, in a settlement that had grown around the nearby Heinitz coal mine. The club dissolved during the First World War and reformed in 1918. Wearing black and white and known by the shortened name Die Elv, they represent Spiesen-Elversberg in Saarland. Their home, the URSAPHARM-Arena an der Kaiserlinde, retains the name of a local lime tree that fell in 2015.

Elversberg's climb into national football gathered pace under Horst Steffen, who arrived in 2018. Promotion from the Regionalliga in 2022 was followed immediately by the 3. Liga championship in 2023, taking the club into the second division for the first time. Vincent Wagner then led Elversberg to second place in 2026 and their first Bundesliga promotion, extending a rise that had begun well below Germany's professional leagues.
