Overview

Zulte Waregem in brief

Zulte Waregem, nicknamed Essevee, are a football club based in Waregem in West Flanders, with their registered seat in neighbouring Zulte in East Flanders. The club was formed in 2001 when Zultse VV, whose matricule number 5381 dates back to Zulte Sportief in 1950, joined forces with KSV Waregem, a former first-division regular. Zulte Waregem's colours are red and green, and they play at the Elindus Arena, formerly the Regenboogstadion, which opened in 1957 for the UCI Road World Championships and was named after the world champion's rainbow jersey.

Because the club continues Zulte's registration, KSV Waregem's honours are not part of its record. Zulte Waregem won the third division in 2002 and the second division in 2005, reaching the top flight for the first time, and won the Belgian Cup a year later, earning a place in the 2006-07 UEFA Cup, where they reached the round of 32 before losing to Newcastle United. A second cup followed in 2017, and the club finished runner-up in the top flight in 2012-13. They also won the second-tier Challenger Pro League in 2024-25.
