Overview

Kasımpaşa in brief

Founded in 1921 as Kasimpasa Genclik Kulubu, Kasimpasa represent the Kasimpasa neighbourhood of Beyoglu, beside the Golden Horn in Istanbul. The navy-and-white team are nicknamed Apaciler, the Apaches, and club and supporters alike are often simply called Pasa. Home matches are played at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium, opened in 2005 on the site of a local athletics ground; Erdogan, after whom it is named, grew up in the district.

Kasimpasa were part of the first national league in 1959 and spent five seasons in the top flight, finishing fifth in 1961-62. Decades in the lower divisions followed, with third-tier titles in 1988-89, 1996-97 and 2005-06, and successive promotions from the fourth tier between 2005 and 2007 took the club back to the Super Lig. Promotion through the TFF First League play-offs in 2012 began the longest top-flight spell in their history, which included a fifth-place finish in 2023-24 that equalled their best.
