Overview
Czech First League in brief
The Czech First League, branded the Chance Liga, is the top division of Czech football and has been played since the 1993–94 season, when the break-up of Czechoslovakia ended the Czechoslovak First League it succeeded. Sixteen clubs play 30 rounds from summer to spring with a winter break, after which the table splits: the top six play each other once more for the title, 7th to 10th play a knockout for the places in between, and the bottom six play each other once more to stay up.
Sparta Prague are the record champions of the Czech era, and their city rivals Slavia Prague, Viktoria Plzeň, Slovan Liberec and Baník Ostrava are the only other clubs to have won the title since 1993. Sparta and Slavia meet in the Prague derby, Czech football's best-known rivalry.
The 2026/27 season runs from 25 July 2026 to 24 April 2027.
Slavia Prague are the reigning champions, having won the 2025/26 title. Tomáš Chorý finished as the season's top scorer with 17 goals.
