Match report
Raphinha treble keeps Barcelona's perfect start going
Barcelona's 7-2 win over Racing Santander made it seven wins from seven competitive games. Raphinha's hat-trick helped secure their sixth league victory alongside the win against Feyenoord. They have taken all 18 available league points.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data and the sources linked below.
Raphinha's treble, including two penalties, continued the form that earned him LaLiga's August Player of the Month award. There was support around him: Lamine Yamal contributed a goal and two assists despite having a penalty saved, giving Barcelona another route to goals alongside their hat-trick scorer.
Raphinha emphasised the players' hunger and willingness to find a better-placed teammate. His coach praised their football while insisting on concentration in every situation and pass.
Racing's goals from Maguette Gueye and Zabiri could not change a familiar away pattern. They have lost all three league trips, with all seven points earned at home. Their coach had promised an attacking approach; scoring twice showed some threat, but a seven-goal defeat makes defensive improvement urgent before the next visit to Celta.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Barcelona 82%, the draw 12%, Racing Santander 6%. It finished Barcelona 7–2 Racing Santander.
Barcelona's rating gap decides it — Barcelona are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and La Liga home advantage on top makes it one-sided for Barcelona. The draw at 12% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Barcelona at 82%?
Barcelona sit 506 points higher on our strength rating — 2180 to 1674. Sides with a more than 300-point rating edge at home won 79.8% of 5,134 such games. La Liga home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (28.3% vs 30.2%). La Liga homes won 46.6% of 6,134 games vs 44.9% across all 100,233 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 83–10–7.
Why not higher?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Barcelona's column. Across 11,167 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 12%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 11.2%. These teams' recent games average 4.0 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,225. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw. The goals environment takes 1.0 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Barcelona average 18 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 506 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 21 home La Liga games: 21 wins and 0 draws. The run began on 14 September 2025. Last recorded home league defeat: 18 May 2025 — Barcelona 2–3 Villarreal. Latest home league result: 31 August 2026 — Barcelona 5–2 Rayo Vallecano. Across 13,622 historical matches following an unbeaten home league run of at least six games, hosts won 56.3%, compared with 54.5% expected from team strength. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
