Match report
QPR come from behind to beat Blackburn 2-1 at Ewood Park
Blackburn's early second-half breakthrough was not enough to hold off QPR, who fought back to win 2-1 in this Championship round three fixture at Ewood Park. Ryoya Morishita opened the scoring four minutes after the restart, but the visitors responded almost immediately and then struck again to complete the turnaround.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Morishita gave Blackburn the lead in the 49th minute, finishing off an assist from Andri Guðjohnsen. QPR levelled within two minutes through Paul Smyth, set up by Rumarn Burrell, and the momentum shifted decisively their way. James Dunne then put QPR ahead in the 74th minute, converting a Tariq Lamptey assist to make it 1-2 and settle the contest.
Blackburn had the greater share of possession at 55 percent and forced more corners, yet QPR were the sharper side in front of goal, registering 19 shots to the hosts' 12 and six on target compared with two. That efficiency, allied to Blackburn's twelve fouls conceded against QPR's six, underlined how the away side controlled the game's key moments despite playing second fiddle in possession.
Smyth scored the equaliser and earned the highest rating on the pitch at 8.2, capping a display that also included his role in tilting the contest towards QPR.
QPR's six shots on target to Blackburn's two reflected their greater precision in front of goal despite having less of the ball.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Blackburn 37%, the draw 33%, QPR 30%. It finished Blackburn 1–2 QPR.
Level sides, home ground holds off QPR's control of the ball — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Blackburn's 37% is home ground and little else. The draw at 33% is helped by a draw-heavy league.
Why Blackburn in front?
Home ground, and little else. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1470 to 1444. Sides this close won 45.6% of 14,507 home games (draw 26.5%, visitors 27.9%).
Why only 37%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. QPR hold 8 more possession points (51 to 43 in recent games) — and between equals, control has been worth something. Between evenly-matched sides, when the visitors held this control edge the home team's win rate fell to 40.2% across 5,551 games, from 44.0% when styles were level. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Blackburn's column. Across 10,761 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the QPR win?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.5%. These teams' recent games average 2.5 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,679. Championship runs draw-heavy, adding 2.0 points. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Blackburn on 3 days' rest, QPR on 7. Once class is accounted for, rest gaps stopped mattering — across 43,531 measured games no rest advantage repeated.
