Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave PAU 43%, the draw 26%, Laval 31%. It finished PAU 3–2 Laval.
Level sides, only home ground separates them — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and PAU's 43% is home ground and little else. The draw at 26% is what level sides usually produce.
Why PAU in front?
Home ground, and little else. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1412 to 1416. Sides this close won 42.6% of 14,789 home games (draw 27.1%, visitors 30.3%).
Why only 43%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Level sides split the rest: the draw at 26% and Laval at 31%.
Why the draw at 26%?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 27.1%. These teams' recent games average 2.9 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.8% of 25,114.
What did we measure but not count?
PAU come into this after a busy window — 21 arrivals, 18 departures, and fewer of last season's regular starters still in the eleven. Squad turnover reads dramatic but hasn't moved results once the rating is controlled: the busiest windows landed within noise across 5,368 games, rebuilt elevens likewise across 5,446, and even losing the most regular starters showed nothing (5,336). PAU won 3 of the last 6 meetings with Laval. The record is 3 wins for PAU, 2 draws and 1 win for Laval. These were 6 Ligue 2 games played at both grounds between 16 December 2023 and 30 January 2026. Latest meeting: 30 January 2026 — Laval 0–1 PAU. In 5,173 historical matches between similarly rated teams, home sides with the stronger head-to-head record won 43.8%.
