Toluca overpower FC Dallas 3-1 in Leagues Cup group stage clash
Toluca beat FC Dallas 3-1 in a Leagues Cup Group Stage fixture that swung early and never really turned back. The hosts led inside eight minutes through an Alexis Vega penalty, only for Petar Musa to level for Dallas a minute later after being teed up by Kaick, setting the tone for a lively opening.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Toluca regained control before the interval when Federico Viñas converted a Helinho assist in first-half stoppage time to make it 2-1 at the break. Érick Gutiérrez extended the lead five minutes into the second half, finishing off a Jesús Gallardo assist to put Toluca 3-1 ahead, a scoreline that held for the remainder of the contest.
The hosts dominated territory throughout, holding 72 percent of possession and outshooting their visitors 18 to 10, with four shots on target to Dallas's two. Discipline favoured Toluca too, who committed just 11 fouls and picked up a single yellow card compared with Dallas's four bookings from 18 fouls.
Érick Gutiérrez capped a dominant Toluca display by scoring the third goal and earning the highest rating on the pitch at 8.7. Helinho also caught the eye, setting up Viñas's decisive strike before the break.
Toluca's 72 percent share of possession underlined how completely they controlled proceedings against FC Dallas.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Toluca 36%, the draw 26%, FC Dallas 38%. It finished Toluca 3–1 FC Dallas.
Level sides on neutral ground — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and neutral ground gives FC Dallas the lean. The draw at 26% is what level sides usually produce.
Why FC Dallas in front?
Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1581 to 1603. Sides this close won 43.2% of 15,778 home games (draw 26.7%, visitors 30.2%). Leagues Cup is played on neutral grounds: Toluca are the listed home side but get none of the usual home lift, so the class read is re-centred. On grounds we detect as neutral, listed-home sides won 44.6% of 26,883 games vs 45.3% at real homes — so a tournament game away from a side's own ground scores the class edge venue-free, as the average of the home and away reads.
Why only 38%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Level sides split the rest: the draw at 26% and Toluca at 36%.
Why the draw at 26%?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.7%. These teams' recent games average 2.8 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,765.
What did we measure but not count?
A 16-point possession gap between near-equal sides is unusual. Gaps this extreme are too rare to receipt — around 359 measured games, under our 300-game floor — so it's noted at 0 points. FC Dallas have gained 61 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: climbing sides won 41.5% of 12,136 such games vs 40.7% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
