Match report
Galatasaray hold off Başakşehir fightback to win 3-2
Galatasaray won 3-2 away at Başakşehir in matchday four of the Süper Lig, a game that swung repeatedly in the second half before the visitors held on despite finishing with ten men reduced further by late chaos at the other end. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing off a Lucas Torreira assist to give the away side a half-time lead of 1-0.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Başakşehir levelled early in the second period when Eldor Shomurodov converted a penalty in the 66th minute, only for Torreira to restore Galatasaray's advantage five minutes later with a goal created by Ismail Jakobs. Davinson Sánchez then turned the ball into his own net in the 76th minute to make it 2-2, and the match tipped further into disorder when Umut Bozok was sent off for the home side three minutes later.
Gabriel Sara settled the contest deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 90th minute to put Galatasaray back in front at 3-2, a lead they did not relinquish. Başakşehir's afternoon worsened further when manager Nuri Şahin was shown a red card in the eighth minute of added time, capping a chaotic finish in which both sides had a man dismissed.
Torreira was involved in both of Galatasaray's opening two goals, scoring once and setting up Osimhen, and finished with the highest rating on the pitch at 8.38.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Başakşehir 31%, the draw 29%, Galatasaray 40%. It finished Başakşehir 2–3 Galatasaray.
Galatasaray's rating edge outweighs Başakşehir's home ground — Galatasaray are the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade on top gives Galatasaray the lean. The draw at 29% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Galatasaray at 40%?
Galatasaray sit 154 points higher on our strength rating — 1684 to 1838. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge on the road won 40.1% of 13,130 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Başakşehir's column. Across 10,893 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018. The 300 most similar past games finished 29–27–44.
Why only 40%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 40% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 29% and Başakşehir at 31%.
Why the draw at 29%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 27.2%. These teams' recent games average 3.1 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,959. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Galatasaray average 8 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 154 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Başakşehir are unbeaten in their last 8 league games at home. Rolling home runs look imposing but sides on a 6+ run won 56.3% of 13,564 games vs 54.6% class-expected — and in our walked test the rating already carried it. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
