Match report
Bahia stroll past Vitoria to climb Brasileirão table
Bahia claimed a 2-0 victory away at Vitoria in Brasileirão Série A round 24 action at Barradao, a result that eased them into sixth place while the hosts remained stuck in mid-table. The game stayed goalless through a cagey first half before Ceni Rogerio's side pulled clear after the break.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Alejo Véliz broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, converting after being set up by Erick Pulga, and the visitors doubled their advantage deep into stoppage time when Jean Lucas struck in the 90+7th minute, assisted by Michel Araújo, to put the result beyond doubt.
Bahia dominated territory and chances despite seeing less of the ball, managing 27 shots to Vitoria's 12 and putting eight on target against the hosts' two. Vitoria's win against Botafogo in their previous outing had offered hope, but this defeat continued a stretch of mixed home form under Ventura Jair.
Luciano Juba earned the night's top rating of 8.3 without registering a goal or assist, underlining a controlled team display, while Alejo Véliz's finish and 7.6 mark capped a productive display for Bahia.
Bahia's 3.41 expected goals figure, against Vitoria's meagre 0.27, reflected just how thoroughly the visitors carved out the better openings.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Vitoria 42%, the draw 32%, Bahia 26%. It finished Vitoria 0–2 Bahia.
Level sides, home ground holds off Bahia's control of the ball — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Brasileirão Série A home advantage gives Vitoria the lean. The draw at 32% is helped by a draw-heavy league.
Why Vitoria in front?
Home ground, mostly. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1639 to 1658. Sides this close won 43.2% of 15,816 home games (draw 26.7%, visitors 30.1%). Brasileirão Série A home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to draws (27.0% vs 24.9% norm) and away wins (24.9% vs 30.2%). Brasileirão Série A homes won 48.1% of 4,407 games vs 44.9% across all 99,290 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly.
Why only 42%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Bahia hold 10 more possession points (57 to 47 in recent games) — and between equals, control has been worth something. Between evenly-matched sides, when the visitors held this control edge the home team's win rate fell to 40.3% across 5,543 games, from 44.0% when styles were level.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Bahia win?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.7%. These teams' recent games average 2.4 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,635. Brasileirão Série A runs draw-heavy, adding 2.1 points. The goals environment adds 1.5 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Vitoria are missing 2 regular starters — Cacá, Luan Cândido — about 20% of their usual starting-XI weight. Our measured receipt covers one-sided absences only, and the picture here isn't one-sided — both squads are short. Bahia are missing 2 regular starters — Luciano Juba, Erick Pulga — about 19% of their usual starting-XI weight.
