Kerwin Vargas put the home side ahead in the 16th minute, and L. Abada doubled the advantage right on the stroke of half-time, finishing off a Pep Biel assist to send Charlotte in 2-0 up at the break. It appeared to be a comfortable evening for the hosts at that stage.
Atlanta United responded after the interval. E. Báez pulled one back in the 57th minute with an assist from T. Jacob, and Miguel Almirón completed the turnaround for parity in the 76th minute, finishing at 2-2 to deny Charlotte a home win.

Vargas scored the opening goal and was rated 8.5, though the night's highest rating went to Atlanta's L. Hoyos at 8.9 despite neither registering a goal or assist beyond the strike itself.
Charlotte's 22 shots to Atlanta United's 12 reflected their greater attacking threat over the course of the match, even as the away side salvaged a point.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Charlotte 57%, the draw 25%, Atlanta United FC 18%. It finished Charlotte 2–2 Atlanta United FC.
Charlotte's rating edge carries it — Charlotte are the stronger side on our strength rating, and Major League Soccer home advantage on top gives Charlotte a clear lead. The draw at 25% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Charlotte at 57%?
Charlotte sit 106 points higher on our strength rating — 1556 to 1451. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge at home won 57.2% of 12,554 such games. Major League Soccer home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (25.8% vs 30.2%). Major League Soccer homes won 49.5% of 5,024 games vs 44.9% across all 98,229 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 56–25–19.
Why only 57%?
Atlanta United FC sit -0.44 goals per game below chance-quality — cold streaks like this have bounced back. Finishing swings carry a receipt at this rating gap too: sides finishing this cold won 38.8% of 2,307 such games where the class table expected 36.1%. Atlanta United FC hold 6 more possession points (52 to 46 in recent games) across a 106-point rating gap. Control now carries a receipt beyond near-equals too: sides with this control edge at a 75–150-point rating gap won 42.7% of 8,529 such games where the class table expected 41.3%.
Why the draw at 25%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.1%. These teams' recent games average 3.0 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.5% of 24,578. The control factor adds 1.2 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Charlotte are missing 2 regular starters — David Schnegg, Nathan Byrne — about 18% of their usual starting-XI weight. Our measured receipt covers one-sided absences only, and the picture here isn't one-sided — both squads are short. Atlanta United FC are missing 1 regular starter — A. Fortune — about 30% of their usual starting-XI weight. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
