Overview

Bologna in brief

Founded in 1909, Bologna represent the capital of Emilia-Romagna and are known as the Rossoblu for their red and blue striped shirts. Their home is the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, a landmark ground opened in 1927 and later named after the long-serving club president. The stadium's brick tower and covered arcades give Bologna a setting closely tied to the architecture and civic identity of the city.

Bologna have won seven Italian championships, three Coppa Italia trophies and three Mitropa Cups. Their strongest period stretched from the 1920s to the early 1940s, when Angelo Schiavio led teams admired for their power and technical quality. A seventh league title followed in 1964, secured against Inter in the only championship play-off in Serie A history, with Fulvio Bernardini's balanced side providing the club's defining post-war triumph.
