Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Dunkerque 43%, the draw 30%, Grenoble 27%. It finished Dunkerque 4–2 Grenoble.
Level sides, home ground swings it, even this early in the season — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Dunkerque's 43% is home ground and little else. The draw at 30% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Dunkerque in front?
Home ground, and little else. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1540 to 1494. Sides this close won 45.7% of 14,447 home games (draw 26.5%, visitors 27.8%).
Why only 43%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Dunkerque's column. Across 10,505 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Grenoble win?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.5%. These teams' recent games average 2.6 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,507. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw. The goals environment adds 1.4 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
A 15-point possession gap between near-equal sides is unusual. Gaps this extreme are too rare to receipt — around 359 measured games, under our 300-game floor — so it's noted at 0 points. Dunkerque have shed 85 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: sliding sides won 34.7% of 9,584 such games vs 34.5% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
