Match report
Beşiktaş open Süper Lig campaign with narrow win over 10-man Eyüpspor
Beşiktaş began their Süper Lig season with a 1-0 victory over Eyüpspor at Besiktas Park, a result that lifted Vincenzo Italiano's side to fifth in the early table while Ozhan Pulat's visitors sit 14th after their opening matchday.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The only goal arrived on 25 minutes when Václav Černý converted an assist from Junior Olaitan to put the hosts ahead, a lead they held through to half-time. Eyüpspor's task grew harder in the second half when David Costa was sent off in the 68th minute, leaving them to see out the remainder of the match a man short.
Beşiktaş dominated proceedings throughout, controlling 66 percent of possession and firing 19 shots to Eyüpspor's four, five of them on target compared with a single effort from the away side. That superiority was reflected in the expected goals figures, with the hosts registering 1.17 against just 0.07 for Eyüpspor, underlining how comfortably Italiano's team managed the contest after taking the lead.
Junior Olaitan earned the night's top rating of 8.2 after setting up Černý's decisive goal, while Černý himself justified a 7.9 mark with the only strike of the game.
Beşiktaş's control was best captured by their 66 percent share of possession against Eyüpspor's 34.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Beşiktaş 65%, the draw 25%, Eyüpspor 10%. It finished Beşiktaş 1–0 Eyüpspor.
Beşiktaş's rating gap decides it — Beşiktaş are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and their cold finishing due to recover on top gives Beşiktaş a clear lead. The draw at 25% is lifted by a low-scoring environment.
Why Beşiktaş at 65%?
Beşiktaş sit 235 points higher on our strength rating — 1783 to 1548. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge at home won 67.0% of 5,930 such games. Beşiktaş sit -0.39 goals per game below chance-quality — cold streaks like this have bounced back. Finishing swings carry a receipt at this rating gap too: sides finishing this cold won 38.8% of 2,351 such games where the class table expected 36.3%. The 300 most similar past games finished 67–20–13.
Why only 65%?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Beşiktaş's column. Across 10,596 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why the draw at 25%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 19.6%. These teams' recent games average 2.2 goals — a low-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 28.2% of 18,086. The goals environment adds 2.6 points to the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Beşiktaş average 15 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 235 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Eyüpspor scored +0.49 goals per game beyond chance-quality lately — hot streaks like that have cooled off. Measured across 2,768 games at this rating gap, hot-finishing sides won 42.0% vs 42.9% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it scores 0 until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
