Overview

Sudtirol in brief

Sudtirol trace their roots to SV Milland, a sports club founded on 26 April 1974 in the Milland district of Brixen (Bressanone). In 1995 a group of South Tyrolean entrepreneurs took over its football section and relaunched it as FC Sudtirol-Alto Adige, in white and red, chosen to reflect its ties to South Tyrol and Bolzano. On reaching Serie C2 in 2000 the club moved its home games to the Stadio Druso in Bolzano (Bozen), a ground dating from the 1930s that was renovated between 2019 and 2022.

The rise came in steps. Sudtirol won their Serie D group in 1999-2000, Group A of the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione in 2009-10 and Serie C Group A in 2021-22, sealed with a 2-0 win at Triestina on 24 April 2022 for the first promotion to Serie B in the club's history. Their first Serie B season brought sixth place and a play-off semi-final against Bari. In 2025-26 they stayed up through a play-out against Bari, drawing 0-0 in both legs.
