Overview

St. Louis City in brief

St. Louis City SC were founded on 20 August 2019, when Major League Soccer approved the city as its 28th franchise, and began play in 2023. The owners, led by Carolyn Kindle and women of the Taylor family behind Enterprise Holdings, made it the first MLS club with female majority ownership. The crest shows the Gateway Arch and the meeting of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, and the club colour is City Red. Home is Energizer Park, beside Union Station in Downtown West, called CityPark in 2023 and 2024.

City won their first MLS match 3-2 at Austin FC in February 2023 and finished their debut season top of the Western Conference with 56 points, before losing a first-round playoff series to Sporting Kansas City. The first trophy came on 21 October 2026, when the U.S. Open Cup final against Columbus Crew in Columbus finished 0-0 after 120 minutes and St. Louis won the shootout 5-3. Backup goalkeeper Ben Lundt made the decisive save after captain Roman Burki had gone off injured.
