Match report
Barcelona cruise past Athletic Club with goals from Raphinha and Fermín

AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The second half followed a similar pattern of home dominance until Fermín added a second in the 82nd minute, sealing the points and extending Barcelona's unbeaten start under Flick. Athletic, managed by Edin Terzic, could not find a way back into the contest despite the efforts of their goalkeeper.
Barcelona's control was overwhelming throughout, with 71% possession and 22 shots to Athletic's four, though Unai Simón kept the scoreline respectable with a string of saves that earned him the highest rating on the pitch. The result lifted Barcelona to the top of the table on six points, while Athletic remained without a win after two matches.
Unai Simón was rated the top performer on the pitch despite finishing on the losing side, his saves keeping Athletic Club's deficit to two goals against relentless pressure.
Barcelona's 10 shots on target to Athletic's none underlined just how one-sided the play was at Camp Nou.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Barcelona 80%, the draw 14%, Athletic Club 6%. It finished Barcelona 2–0 Athletic Club.
Barcelona's rating gap decides it — Barcelona are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and La Liga home advantage on top makes it one-sided for Barcelona. The draw at 14% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Barcelona at 80%?
Barcelona sit 381 points higher on our strength rating — 2157 to 1776. Sides with a more than 300-point rating edge at home won 79.7% of 5,090 such games. La Liga home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (28.3% vs 30.2%). La Liga homes won 46.6% of 6,098 games vs 44.9% across all 99,396 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 81–11–8.
Why not higher?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Barcelona's column. Across 10,739 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 14%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 11.7%. These teams' recent games average 3.1 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,882. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Barcelona average 18 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 381 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 19 league games at home. Rolling home runs look imposing but sides on a 6+ run won 56.3% of 13,534 games vs 54.5% class-expected — and in our walked test the rating already carried it. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
