Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Levante 17%, the draw 20%, Barcelona 63%. It finished Levante 2–4 Barcelona.
Barcelona's rating gap outweighs Levante's home ground — Barcelona are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade on top gives Barcelona a clear lead. The draw at 20% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Barcelona at 63%?
Barcelona sit 406 points higher on our strength rating — 1770 to 2176. Sides with a more than 300-point rating edge on the road won 65.9% of 5,248 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Levante's column. Across 11,115 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.6% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018. The 300 most similar past games finished 18–19–63.
Why only 63%?
La Liga home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (28.3% vs 30.2%). La Liga homes won 46.7% of 6,126 games vs 44.9% across all 100,162 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly.
Why is the draw only 20%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 19.3%. These teams' recent games average 3.5 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,203. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw. The goals environment takes 1.6 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Barcelona average 23 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 406 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Levante are unbeaten in their last 8 league games at home (7 wins, 1 draw), a run going back to February 2026. Rolling home runs look imposing but sides on a 6+ run won 56.2% of 13,607 games vs 54.5% class-expected — and in our walked test the rating already carried it, as it did for the season-long record. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
