Angers struck first through Branco van den Boomen after just five minutes, but Auxerre responded when Rémy Labeau Lascary converted a Romain Faivre assist in the 35th minute to make it 1-1 at the break. The turning point came after the hour mark, as Djibirin Harouna restored Angers' lead in the 70th minute, assisted by Amine El Ouazzani, before El Ouazzani himself added a third eight minutes later, finishing off a move started by Ousmane Camara.
Auxerre dominated possession with 61 percent of the ball and had more corners, yet Angers proved the more clinical side, matching their hosts for shots on target with six to Auxerre's seven. The visitors also edged the expected goals count 1.64 to 1.29, a reflection of the sharper finishing that ultimately decided the contest.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Auxerre 45%, the draw 28%, Angers 27%. It finished Auxerre 1–3 Angers.
Auxerre's rating edge, but the draw is in play — Auxerre are a shade stronger on our strength rating, and that is most of Auxerre's 45%. The draw at 28% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Auxerre at 45%?
Auxerre sit 73 points higher on our strength rating — 1698 to 1625. Sides with a 50–100-point rating edge at home won 50.6% of 10,384 such games.
Why only 45%?
Angers sit -0.49 goals per game below chance-quality — cold streaks like this have bounced back. Visitors this cold went on to win 32.5% of 1,326 games, vs 28.9% for visitors finishing normally. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Auxerre's column. Across 10,761 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Angers win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 26.5%. These teams' recent games average 2.9 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,900. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Auxerre have gained 73 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: climbing sides won 41.4% of 12,243 such games vs 40.7% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. Auxerre's last five: W-W-W-L — clearly the hotter side on recent results. Between equals, recent form told us almost nothing: the home side won 44.7% of 2195 games when clearly hotter and 42.9% of 4007 when clearly colder.
