Match report
Almeria come from behind to sink Burgos with late double
Almeria overturned a half-time deficit to beat Burgos 2-1 at UD Almería Stadium in a Segunda División round 8 fixture, moving to third in the table while Burgos stayed fourth. A three-goal contest that looked set to go Burgos's way after the opening period swung decisively in the final quarter of an hour.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Jon Karrikaburu put Burgos ahead in the 40th minute, converting a Javi Llabrés assist to send the visitors in 1-0 up at the break despite having seen far less of the ball. Almeria dominated territory throughout but needed until the 77th minute to find a leveller, Brian Cipenga finishing from a Sergio Arribas assist to make it 1-1.
Seven minutes later Miguel de la Fuente turned the game on its head, putting Almeria 2-1 ahead in the 84th minute and securing the points. Almeria's control of possession, at 69 percent, and a far greater shot count eventually told, even though Burgos had led for much of the match following their first-half breakthrough.
Cipenga scored the equaliser and finished with a rating of 8.01, the highest of any player on the pitch, as Almeria's response after the break proved decisive.
Almeria's 25 shots to Burgos's 9 underlined their territorial dominance despite trailing for much of the game.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Almeria 51%, the draw 28%, Burgos 21%. It finished Almeria 2–1 Burgos.
Level sides, Almeria's control of the ball swings it — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Almeria's control of the ball plus Burgos' hot finishing due to cool give Almeria the lean. The draw at 28% is lifted by a low-scoring environment.
Why Almeria in front?
Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1575 to 1560. Sides this close won 46.0% of 13,627 home games (draw 27.4%, visitors 26.6%). Almeria hold 6 more possession points (51 to 45 in recent games) — and between equals, control has been worth something. Between evenly-matched sides, home teams with this control edge won 48.2% of 5,118 games, vs 43.9% when styles were level. Burgos scored +0.51 goals per game beyond chance-quality lately — hot streaks like that have cooled off. Visitors running this hot went on to win 26.9% of 1,429 games, vs 27.7% for visitors finishing normally.
Why only 51%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Level sides split the rest: the draw at 28% and Burgos at 21%.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Burgos win?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 27.4%. These teams' recent games average 2.2 goals — a low-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 28.2% of 18,719. The goals environment adds 3.1 points to the draw. The cool-off factor takes 2.1 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Burgos are 2 games into a new manager (Sergio Francisco), appointed 12 days ago. The famous new-manager bounce doesn't survive its receipt: sides with a new manager beat their rating by 0.9 points over 33,420 games — but sides on an equally bad run who kept their manager beat it by 2.4 over 31,777.
