Bayern München overwhelm Union Berlin in seven-goal rout
Bayern München thrashed Union Berlin 7-0 at the Allianz Arena in matchday four of the Bundesliga, a result that stretched their perfect start under V. Kompany while leaving M. Lustrinelli's side rooted near the bottom of the table.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The hosts were ahead within 18 minutes when Jamal Musiala converted an Alphonso Davies assist, and Harry Kane doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 39th. Michael Olise struck four minutes before the interval, teed up by Musiala, to make it 3-0 at half-time.
Bayern kept pouring forward after the break. Kane added a second in the 54th minute, assisted by Olise, before Ismael Saibari, set up by Davies, made it five in the 70th. Olise then completed his hat-trick with goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes, both created by Tom Bischof, sealing a 7-0 victory.
Union offered little resistance throughout, managing just three shots to Bayern's 23 and seeing only two on target compared with the hosts' 15, while Bayern's dominance of possession at 68 percent underlined a one-sided contest from start to finish.
Michael Olise was decisive with a hat-trick and an assist, earning a match rating of 9.56 in a display that overshadowed everyone else on the pitch.
Bayern's 23 shots to Union Berlin's three told the story of a match played almost entirely in the visitors' half.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Bayern München 83%, the draw 14%, Union Berlin 3%. It finished Bayern München 7–0 Union Berlin.
Bayern München's rating gap decides it — Bayern München are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Bayern München's 83%. The draw at 14% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Bayern München at 83%?
Bayern München sit 662 points higher on our strength rating — 2300 to 1638. Sides with a more than 300-point rating edge at home won 79.8% of 5,138 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 86–13–1.
Why not higher?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Bayern München's column. Across 11,172 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 14%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 12.7%. These teams' recent games average 3.8 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,234. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw. The goals environment takes 1.1 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Bayern München average 20 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 662 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Bayern München are unbeaten in their last 8 home Bundesliga games: 7 wins and 1 draw. The run began on 8 February 2026. Last recorded home league defeat: 24 January 2026 — Bayern München 1–2 FC Augsburg. Latest home league result: 28 August 2026 — Bayern München 5–1 VfB Stuttgart. Across 13,626 historical matches following an unbeaten home league run of at least six games, hosts won 56.3%, compared with 54.6% expected from team strength. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
