Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave KuPS 16%, the draw 19%, Trabzonspor 65%. It finished KuPS 2–4 Trabzonspor.
Trabzonspor's big strength edge drives the forecast — We give Trabzonspor 65% mainly because our strength rating has them 357 points higher, 1684 to 1327, a gap that outweighs the usual home advantage KuPS enjoy. The draw sits at 19%, close to the usual 18% for a gap this size, nudged up slightly because both sides' recent games average a typical 2.4 goals.
Why Trabzonspor at 65%?
Trabzonspor sit 357 points higher on our strength rating — 1684 to 1327. Sides with a more than 240-point rating edge on the road won 65.7% of 5,868 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 16–18–66.
Why only 65%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 65% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 19% and KuPS at 16%.
Why is the draw only 19%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 18.4%. These teams' recent games average 2.4 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.5% of 28,322.
What did we measure but not count?
Trabzonspor are 2 games into a new manager (Thomas Reis), appointed 25 days ago. The famous new-manager bounce doesn't survive its receipt: sides with a new manager beat their rating by 0.9 points over 33,420 games — but sides on an equally bad run who kept their manager beat it by 2.4 over 31,777.
