Everton and Manchester United shared a dramatic 2-2 draw at Hill Dickinson Stadium in a Premier League round three fixture that stayed goalless until the second half burst into life. United broke the deadlock immediately after the restart, Bryan Mbeumo converting a Kobbie Mainoo assist to make it 1-0 within seconds of the second half beginning. Everton looked set to leave empty-handed until Tyrique George, teed up by Hayden Hackney, levelled in the 83rd minute. Benjamin Šeško, assisted by Luke Shaw, restored United's lead five minutes later with what appeared a decisive strike.
Everton were not finished, however, as Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck in the sixth minute of added time to snatch a 2-2 draw and deny United a third victory in their previous five outings. The result lifted Everton to eighth in the table on five points, while United remain 11th with four.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Everton 31%, the draw 27%, Manchester United 42%. It finished Everton 2–2 Manchester United.
Manchester United's rating edge outweighs Everton's home ground — Manchester United are the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade on top gives Manchester United the lean. The draw at 27% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Manchester United at 42%?
Manchester United sit 116 points higher on our strength rating — 1866 to 1982. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge on the road won 40.1% of 13,146 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Everton's column. Across 10,972 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018. The 300 most similar past games finished 36–30–34.
Why only 42%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 42% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 27% and Everton at 31%.
Why the draw at 27%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 27.2%. These teams' recent games average 3.3 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,128. The goals environment takes 2.3 points off the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Last 6 between them: Everton 1 win, 1 draw, Manchester United 4 wins. Most recently Everton 0–1 Manchester United, 6 months ago. Fixture history hasn't carried forward once class is level: past leaders won just 28.1% of 5618 such games — no measurable edge, 0 points. Everton have played 3+ games in the last two weeks; their opponents haven't. Between equals, congested home sides won 46.9% of 2429 measured games and congested visitors 28.2% of 2481 — the cells disagree with each other and with the flat rest table, so schedule stays a watch item at 0 points. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
