Zachariassen double sees Ferencvarosi TC past Plzen
Ferencvarosi TC beat Plzen 2-1 at Groupama Aréna in the second matchday of the UEFA Europa League league stage. Kristoffer Zachariassen scored both home goals, the second from the penalty spot, while Denis Višinský's late reply for the visitors came too close to the end to change the outcome.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The first half finished goalless, though the match opened up after the interval. Zachariassen broke the deadlock in the 49th minute, finishing a chance created by Veljko Birmančević to make it 1-0. Plzen pressed for an equaliser without finding it, and the home side held on to their lead for more than half an hour.
Ferencvarosi doubled the advantage in the 81st minute when Zachariassen converted a penalty. Višinský pulled one back in the 90th minute to set up a nervy finish, but the hosts saw the game out. The result extends Ferencvarosi TC's winning run to four games and leaves them unbeaten in 10 games.
Ferencvarosi next play Torreense at home in the Europa League on Thursday 22 October, the same day Plzen host Levski Sofia in the competition.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Ferencvarosi TC 43%, the draw 28%, Viktoria Plzeň 29%. It finished Ferencvarosi TC 2–1 Viktoria Plzeň.
Level sides, home ground holds off Viktoria Plzeň's control of the ball — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and UEFA Europa League home advantage gives Ferencvarosi TC the lean. The draw at 28% is what level sides usually produce.
Why Ferencvarosi TC in front?
Home ground, mostly. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1684 to 1650. Sides this close won 45.8% of 13,721 home games (draw 27.6%, visitors 26.6%). UEFA Europa League home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to draws (23.2% vs 25.4% norm). UEFA Europa League homes won 47.0% of 4,456 games vs 44.6% across all 101,206 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly.
Why only 43%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Plzen hold 9 more possession points (47 to 38 in recent games) — and between equals, control has been worth something. Between evenly-matched sides, when the visitors held this control edge the home team's win rate fell to 39.8% across 5,480 games, from 44.0% when styles were level.
Why the draw at 28%?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 27.6%. These teams' recent games average 2.5 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.5% of 28,322. UEFA Europa League produces fewer draws than most, taking 2.2 points off. The control factor adds 1.4 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Ferencvarosi TC have gained 63 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: climbing sides won 39.9% of 11,197 such games vs 40.5% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. Plzen are 2 games into a new manager (R. Kováč), appointed 49 days ago. The famous new-manager bounce doesn't survive its receipt: sides with a new manager beat their rating by 0.9 points over 33,420 games — but sides on an equally bad run who kept their manager beat it by 2.4 over 31,777. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
