Rennes snatch late win over OFI in Europa League
Rennes beat OFI 2-1 at Roazhon Park in the second matchday of the UEFA Europa League league stage, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes to overturn a half-time deficit. The home side had trailed since the tenth minute and appeared to be heading for defeat before Mahamadou Nagida and Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal struck.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
OFI took the lead on 10 minutes when Taxiarchis Fountas converted a pass from Nicolaos Athanasiou, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage that held through half-time. They had arrived with three wins from their previous three games, having scored seven goals without conceding, and they defended for long spells after going ahead.
Rennes kept up the pressure after the break and levelled in the 76th minute through Nagida. The winner arrived in the 90th minute, when Ait Boudlal made it 2-1. The home side had 67% of the possession and had 25 shots to the visitors' two.
Rennes next travel to Paris FC in Ligue 1 on Sunday 18 October, while OFI host Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League on Thursday 22 October.
Nagida, rated 8.05, scored the 76th-minute equaliser that began Rennes' comeback. Charlie Cresswell, rated 7.87, was the next highest-rated player for the home side.
Rennes won 13 corners to OFI's three, underlining how much of the match was played in the visitors' half.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Rennes 77%, the draw 15%, OFI 8%. It finished Rennes 2–1 OFI.
Rennes's strength edge makes this one-sided — Rennes sit 291 points higher on our strength rating, 1759 to 1469, and home sides in the UEFA Europa League tend to do better than usual, so we give them 77%. The draw starts at about 17%, the usual rate for a gap this size, and drops to 15% because draws are less common in this competition.
Why Rennes at 77%?
Rennes sit 291 points higher on our strength rating — 1759 to 1469. Sides with a more than 240-point rating edge at home won 79.2% of 5,559 such games. UEFA Europa League home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to draws (23.2% vs 25.4% norm). UEFA Europa League homes won 47.0% of 4,456 games vs 44.6% across all 101,206 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 73–19–8.
Why not higher?
No scored evidence points the other way. 77% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 15% and OFI at 8%.
Why is the draw only 15%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 17.3%. Not enough recent scoring data to set the goals dial — the draw stays at the class table's rate. UEFA Europa League produces fewer draws than most, taking 2.2 points off.
What did we measure but not count?
Rennes are unbeaten in their last 8 home Ligue 1 games: 6 wins and 2 draws. The run began on 22 March 2026. Last recorded home league defeat: 15 March 2026 — Rennes 1–2 Lille. Latest home league result: 11 October 2026 — Rennes 4–1 Auxerre. Across 13,715 historical matches following an unbeaten home league run of at least six games, hosts won 56.0%, compared with 54.8% expected from team strength. OFI's last five in the competitions we cover: W-W-W — the hotter side across the games we track. Between equals, recent form told us almost nothing: the home side won 43.4% of 1902 games when clearly hotter and 43.7% of 3649 when clearly colder. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
