Genk hit four past Beveren to climb Jupiler Pro League table
Genk thrashed SK Beveren 4-0 at Cegeka Arena in Jupiler Pro League matchday 4, a result that lifted Jess Thorup's side to fourth in the table. The contest was effectively over by half-time as Genk raced into a 3-0 lead, and they added a fourth after the break to complete a one-sided afternoon in front of their own supporters.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Rafiu Durosinmi opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the ninth minute, and Junya Ito doubled the advantage ten minutes later. Josué Kongolo added a third just before the interval, converting an assist from Jeppe Erenbjerg to put Genk 3-0 up at the break. Joris Kayembe completed the scoring in the 74th minute, finishing off a chance created by Noah Adedeji-Sternberg.
Genk's dominance was reflected across the statistics despite Beveren edging possession 52 to 48 per cent. The home side produced 7 shots on target from 11 attempts compared with just one for the visitors, and their expected goals figure of 3.03 dwarfed Beveren's 0.56, underlining how comprehensively Thorup's team controlled the game's key moments.
Josué Kongolo scored and earned the highest rating on the pitch at 9.3, capping a display in which his goal, set up by Erenbjerg, put Genk firmly in control before half-time.
Genk's expected goals tally of 3.03 against Beveren's 0.56 illustrated the gulf in quality of chances created over the 90 minutes.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Genk 64%, the draw 23%, SK Beveren 13%. It finished Genk 4–0 SK Beveren.
Genk's rating gap decides it — Genk are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Genk's 64%. The draw at 23% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Genk at 64%?
Genk sit 287 points higher on our strength rating — 1716 to 1429. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge at home won 67.0% of 5,958 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 66–21–13.
Why only 64%?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Genk's column. Across 10,741 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 23%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 20.9%. These teams' recent games average 2.8 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,891. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Genk average 8 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 287 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. SK Beveren have gained 92 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: climbing sides won 41.4% of 12,240 such games vs 40.7% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
