Anthony Elanga broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, finishing off an assist from Amar Dedić to put the visitors ahead. Ten minutes later Yoane Wissa doubled the lead, converting a chance created by Nick Woltemade to make it 0-2, a scoreline that held until the final whistle.
Tottenham had the greater share of possession at 58 percent and out-shot Newcastle 17 to 11, but managed only six shots on target compared to Newcastle's two from fewer attempts overall being made to count. Tottenham also picked up more fouls, with 15 to Newcastle's nine, as the hosts pressed for a way back into the game without success.
Elanga scored the opening goal in the 62nd minute and finished with a rating of 8.2, the highest of any player in the match.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Tottenham 41%, the draw 28%, Newcastle 31%. It finished Tottenham 0–2 Newcastle.
Level sides, home ground swings it, even this early in the season — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Tottenham's 41% is home ground and little else. The draw at 28% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Tottenham in front?
Home ground, and little else. Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1869 to 1879. Sides this close won 43.2% of 15,833 home games (draw 26.7%, visitors 30.1%).
Why only 41%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Tottenham's column. Across 10,761 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why the draw at 28%?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.7%. These teams' recent games average 2.9 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,900. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Newcastle have shed 108 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: sliding sides won 34.7% of 9,671 such games vs 34.5% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. Last 6 between them: Tottenham 0 wins, 1 draw, Newcastle 5 wins. Most recently Tottenham 1–2 Newcastle, 7 months ago. Fixture history hasn't carried forward once class is level: past leaders won just 28.1% of 5593 such games — no measurable edge, 0 points.
