Late Marquinhos strike earns Paris Saint Germain 2-2 draw at Lille
Lille and Paris Saint Germain shared a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in round two of Ligue 1, with the visitors snatching a point deep into stoppage time after trailing for most of the contest. Davide Ancelotti's side led at the break and looked set for a second successive win before a stunning finish from Paris Saint Germain.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Hákon Haraldsson opened the scoring in the 21st minute, converting an Olivier Giroud assist to give Lille a lead they held into half-time. Dilane Bakwa doubled the advantage in the 84th minute, again teed up by Giroud, and with the clock ticking down Lille appeared on course for a third victory of the young season.
But Paris Saint Germain responded in stunning fashion. Vitinha pulled one back in the first minute of stoppage time, assisted by Mika Godts, before Marquinhos levelled matters in the 90+5th minute with Vitinha turning provider. The equaliser denied Lille what would have been a statement win at the top of the table.
Vitinha scored one and set up another in a decisive late intervention, finishing with a rating of 8.9 to edge out teammate Marquinhos, who also found the net in the chaotic finish.
Lille managed just 27% of possession yet still produced the game's opening two goals, underlining how efficiently they used their limited spells on the ball.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Lille 22%, the draw 27%, Paris Saint Germain 51%. It finished Lille 2–2 Paris Saint Germain.
Paris Saint Germain's rating gap, but the draw is in play — Paris Saint Germain are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade on top gives Paris Saint Germain the lean. The draw at 27% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Paris Saint Germain at 51%?
Paris Saint Germain sit 240 points higher on our strength rating — 1889 to 2129. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge on the road won 52.0% of 6,047 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Lille's column. Across 10,741 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018. The 300 most similar past games finished 20–23–57.
Why only 51%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 51% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 27% and Lille at 22%.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Lille win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.0%. These teams' recent games average 2.5 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,674. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw. The goals environment adds 1.3 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Paris Saint Germain average 6 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 240 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. Paris Saint Germain scored +0.37 goals per game beyond chance-quality lately — hot streaks like that have cooled off. Measured across 2,797 games at this rating gap, hot-finishing sides won 42.1% vs 42.9% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it scores 0 until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
