Late Lautaro Martínez double rescues Inter in 2-2 draw at Roma
Roma and Inter, level on points at the top of Serie A before kick-off, shared four goals in a dramatic draw at the Stadio Olimpico that left both sides still tied on 13 points after five rounds. Kouadio Koné's early double had threatened to hand Gian Piero Gasperini's side all three points before Inter, guided by Cristian Chivu, fought back in the second half.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Koné struck twice inside the first 37 minutes, converting a Nahuel Molina assist in the sixth minute before adding a second from Gianluca Mancini's supply to send Roma into the break 2-0 ahead. Inter responded immediately after the restart, with Lautaro Martínez pulling one back in the 46th minute off a Marcus Thuram pass.
The visitors continued to push and were rewarded in the 79th minute when Martínez completed his brace, finishing from a Yann Bisseck assist to level the score at 2-2. Neither side found a winner thereafter, with the match finishing level despite Inter's second-half surge and a share of the spoils at the top of the table.
Kouadio Koné scored twice in the first half to put Roma in control, finishing with a rating of 8.39, though his efforts were ultimately matched by Lautaro Martínez's own second-half double for Inter.
Inter edged the expected goals count 2.37 to 1.69, reflecting the quality of their second-half comeback despite having less of the ball.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave AS Roma 30%, the draw 28%, Inter 42%. It finished AS Roma 2–2 Inter.
Inter's rating edge outweighs AS Roma's home ground — Inter are the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade plus a weak Serie A home advantage on top give Inter the lean. The draw at 28% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Inter at 42%?
Inter sit 200 points higher on our strength rating — 1944 to 2144. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge on the road won 40.1% of 13,189 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims AS Roma's column. Across 11,181 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018. Serie A home sides under-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to the other outcomes. Serie A homes won 43.3% of 6,122 games vs 44.9% across all 100,303 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 28–22–50.
Why only 42%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 42% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 28% and AS Roma at 30%.
Why the draw at 28%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 27.2%. These teams' recent games average 3.4 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,242. The goals environment takes 2.4 points off the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Inter average 5 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 200 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. AS Roma are unbeaten in their last 14 home Serie A games: 11 wins and 3 draws. The run began on 15 December 2025. Last recorded home league defeat: 30 November 2025 — AS Roma 0–1 Napoli. Latest home league result: 5 September 2026 — AS Roma 2–1 Atalanta. Across 13,631 historical matches following an unbeaten home league run of at least six games, hosts won 56.3%, compared with 54.5% expected from team strength. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
