AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The match stayed goalless through a cagey first half before Milan broke through in the 69th minute, Gonçalo Ramos converting from an Alexis Saelemaekers assist to put the hosts ahead. Venezia's resistance finally cracked again in the 89th minute when Redouane Halhal turned the ball into his own net, sealing the scoreline at 2-0.
Milan dominated territorially, holding 58 percent of possession and outshooting Venezia 16 to 8, with five shots on target against two. The visitors were also stretched by discipline, picking up three yellow cards to Milan's one, as the hosts controlled the game's rhythm from start to finish.
Samuel Chukwueze earned the highest rating on the pitch at 7.6 without directly contributing a goal or assist, while Saelemaekers backed up his 7.5 mark with the assist for Ramos's opener.
Milan's expected goals figure of 2.13 against Venezia's 0.69 underlined how much more clear-cut the home side's chances were over the course of the match.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave AC Milan 61%, the draw 23%, Venezia 16%. It finished AC Milan 2–0 Venezia.
AC Milan's rating gap decides it — AC Milan are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of AC Milan's 61%. The draw at 23% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why AC Milan at 61%?
AC Milan sit 215 points higher on our strength rating — 1932 to 1717. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge at home won 67.0% of 5,958 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 67–19–14.
Why only 61%?
Venezia sit -0.41 goals per game below chance-quality — cold streaks like this have bounced back. Finishing swings carry a receipt at this rating gap too: sides finishing this cold won 38.7% of 2,390 such games where the class table expected 36.3%. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims AC Milan's column. Across 10,741 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 23%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 19.6%. These teams' recent games average 2.8 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,891. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw. Serie A runs draw-heavy, adding 1.0 points.
What did we measure but not count?
Venezia average 15 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 215 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. AC Milan have shed 81 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: sliding sides won 34.7% of 9,669 such games vs 34.5% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
