Amdouni double gives Switzerland a commanding League B start
Switzerland began their push to return to Nations League A with a 3-0 win away to North Macedonia in Skopje. They entered League B after relegation, while their hosts had just been promoted from League C. The result gives Switzerland three points in Group B1 after fellow group members Slovenia and Scotland drew their opener.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data and the sources linked below.
Remo Freuler put Switzerland ahead, and Zeki Amdouni scored before half-time and again after the break. Amdouni's double turned an early advantage into a result North Macedonia never threatened to overturn on the scoresheet.
The gap in chances was as clear as the score: Switzerland had 23 shots, 11 on target, while North Macedonia managed two shots and none on target. That supports a reading of Swiss control beyond their finishing, although one match cannot settle the balance of a six-game group.
North Macedonia's League B opener leaves them needing a response at Slovenia on 29 September. Switzerland visit Scotland the same day. The group winner goes straight up to League A, so this opening result is a useful start to Switzerland's promotion campaign rather than a verdict on it.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave FYR Macedonia 13%, the draw 19%, Switzerland 68%. It finished FYR Macedonia 0–3 Switzerland.
Switzerland's rating gap outweighs FYR Macedonia's home ground — Switzerland are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Switzerland's 68%. The draw at 19% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Switzerland at 68%?
Switzerland sit 360 points higher on our strength rating — 1573 to 1933. Sides with a more than 240-point rating edge on the road won 66.4% of 5,896 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 12–18–70.
Why only 68%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 68% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 19% and FYR Macedonia at 13%.
Why is the draw only 19%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 18.1%. These teams' recent games average 2.6 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.3% of 27,938.
What did we measure but not count?
Switzerland have averaged 12 percentage points more possession than FYR Macedonia in recent games. That doesn’t change our forecast here. FYR Macedonia (9 fully-tracked matches with us) and Switzerland (17) carry strength ratings anchored to the official international ratings list, so the class read stands on far more than our own short records. National sides play too few games for a record built from scratch, so their rating chain starts from the published international ratings instead of a blind first guess.
